16 Lakh devotees visited Baba Kedar
Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) President Ajendra Ajay said that during the Char Dham Yatra season, more than 16.5 lakh pilgrims reached Kedarnath Dham for worship.
Kedarnath, situated at an altitude of more than 11,000 feet in the Garhwal Himalayas, is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas located in different parts of the country. It is a popular pilgrimage site for millions of pilgrims every year. The temple is closed during winter due to snowfall.
When will the doors of Badrinath Dham be closed?
Yamunotri Dham was closed on 3rd November during Abhijeet Muhurta. One Gangotri Dham in the Char Dham temple was closed on November 2 on the day of Govardhan Puja. Apart from this, the doors of Shri Badrinath Dham will be closed on 17th November this year.
Why are the doors of all Char Dhams closed?
After the festival of Bhai Dooj and Diwali, the cold increases, in such a situation, due to Char Dham being at a high altitude, the cold here remains even more extreme. The path to reach all these Dhams is also quite difficult, which becomes even more difficult during winter. As you reach higher altitude, breathing becomes difficult due to cold.
Due to lack of facilities, people also face difficulty in getting help. These places also experience heavy snowfall during winter. This is the reason why darshan of Kedarnath is stopped after Bhaiya Dooj.
