Initiative to start Winter Chardham Yatra

To encourage winter pilgrimage, the state government is launching a special winter pilgrimage to the Chardham sacred sites. In this regard, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami directed the officials to start the yatra to the winter migration destinations of Kedarnath, Badrinath, Yamunotri and Gangotri Dham.

Wide publicity should also be given for winter travel. Along with this, he asked the officials to make better arrangements for the devotees visiting the migration places during winter.  CM will also visit migration places during winter journey.

10 percent discount in hotels of Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam (GMVN)

Devotees visiting the pilgrimage sites of Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham during winter will get 10 percent discount on staying in hotels of Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam (GMVN).

After Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham, the Chardham Yatra ended for the next six months with the closing of the doors of Badrinath on 17th November. It is to be informed that during winter season Baba Kedar is worshiped in Omkareshwar temple located in Ukhimath. Whereas worship and darshan are done in Kharsali of Yamunotri Dham and Mukhwa of Gangotri Dham. Worship of Badrinath Dham and Pandukeshwar and Narasimha temples take place in Joshimath.

Registration for Winter Chardham Yatra  from 30th November

Registration for winter Chardham Yatra will start from 30th November which will continue till 10th December. Pilgrims coming from different states can register themselves at Jyotirmath Sevalay during this period.

Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwarananda promote Winter Chardham Yatra 2024

To promote winter pilgrimage to the Gaddi sites of Chardhams, winter pilgrimage to the places of worship will start from December 16 under the guidance of Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati Maharaj of Jyoti Peeth. This seven-day yatra will conclude on December 22 at Shankaracharya Ashram, Haridwar.

On Friday, a virtual meeting was held by Jyotirmath Yatra Sevalay regarding the preparations for the yatra. Jyotirmath in-charge Brahmachari Mukundanand said that registration for winter yatra will start from November 30 and will continue till December 10. Pilgrims coming from different states can register themselves at Jyotirmath Sevalay during this period.

The meeting was conducted by Dr. Brijesh Sati. Chardham Teerth Purohit Mahapanchayat President and Gangotri Temple Committee Secretary Suresh Semwal, Yamunotri Teerth Purohit Mahasabha President Purushottam Uniyal, Brahma Kapal Teerth Purohit Panchayat Committee President Umesh Sati, Kedar Sabha President Rajkumar Tiwari, Jyotirmath Manager Vishnu Priya Nand were present in the meeting.

This is the winter Chardham itinerary of Swami Avimukteshwarananda.

On December 16, the group of pilgrims will reach Kharsali, the winter worship place of Mother Yamuna, after worshiping the Ganga at Harki Paidi. There will be night stay in Dhanari on 17th December. On 18th the yatra group will reach Mukhwa, the winter worship place of Mother Ganga.

On 19th, after offering prayers at the Kedarnath winter worship place, Omkareshwar Temple, Ukhimath, the next day the Yatra will go to Narasimha Temple, Jyotirmath and Pandukeshwar, followed by night stay at Jyotirmath. The next day the yatra group will reach Shankaracharya Ashram after visiting Kamleshwar Temple. The yatra is set to officially conclude on December 22nd.
